Rais of Tatarstan: The competition of 50 best ideas is a platform where a young talent finds its recognition and support

On 13 December the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of awarding winners of the annual competition”50 best ideas” in Kazan.

The total award fund of the competition has made more than 7m rubles which were allocated to its 125 winners, and, speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov said that during 19 years of its existence the competition has become a landmark event in the life of the republic and an important factor of raising of the innovative potential of the republic. He stated the big merit of the competition mentors – supervisors of scientific fields.

Addressing participants of the event, Rustam Minnikhanov said: “Today the competition of 50 best ideas is a platform where a young talent finds its recognition and support. It is you - brave and inspired young people -who define the success and the future of science. That is why it is extremely important for you to be actively involved into this work and to make contribution into development of advanced technologies in medicine, ecology, agriculture and other spheres.”

Having said that science and its traditions have always played an important role in the development of the republic, the Rais of Tatarstan reminded that 2024 was declared the Year of scientific and technological development in the republic . “Tatarstan still is one of scientific centers of our country with its 45 higher educational institutions and 129 scientific, research and design organizations. In the last year there appeared new mechanisms to support technological entrepreneurship such as the federal competition “The students’ startup”, where the republic is one the leaders in the country with 442 projects having received 1m rubles awards each this year,” he stated.

Then Rustam Minnikhanov handed in awards to 10 winners of the competition – schoolchildren and students at the ages from 11 to 19, and Aleksey Pesoshin handed in awards to winners of the “Start of innovations” nomination.

The Director of Tatarstan Investments venture Fund Damir Galiyev informed that in the current year there were 2023 applications from startups, scientists and doctoral students and schoolchildren with the most popular spheres being agriculture, ecology and food industry, ITS and education.

The competition “50 best innovative idea for Tatarstan” organized by the regional Investments Venture Fund and Ministry of Science and Education has been held since 2005 with projects of more than 2 500 winners working successfully in various spheres from agriculture to medicine.
