Rustam Minnikhanov at a session of the Eurasian Economic Union member-countries customs services collegium: It is symbolic that Kazan has been chosen a venue to discuss issues of customs interaction

On 8 December the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the 44th session of the Eurasian Economic Union member-countries customs services collegium held in the Kazan City Hall.

In his welcoming speech to participants of the session the Acting Head of the Federal Customs Service Ruslan Davydov said:” It is not by chance that today’s meeting is held here in Kazan. It is not just an ancient city with historical and cultural heritage, we call it the place where the Europe meets Asia. It is the city where people of different ethnicities and religions live in the atmosphere of friendliness and tolerance. Ethnic and religious diversity has been preserved in Kazan for many centuries. You must have already seen that Christian churches here stand side by side with Muslim mosques and ancient palaces with modern buildings. I am sure that every one of those who are here in this room has found something for his or her soul in Kazan. I would like to thank representatives of Tatarstan for warm welcome and impeccable organization of our event.”

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov said he was sure that results of today’s meeting will give an additional impetus to international cooperation and wished participants of the session success and fruitful work.

During their stay in Kazan prior to the session, representatives of delegations visited a number of historical and cultural sites of the city and got acquainted with modern industrial facilities, including the Rameev IT Park.
