Rustam Minnikhanov visits Sechenov University

On November 29, during his working visit to Moscow, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the First Moscow State Medical University after Sechenov.

Sechenov University is the oldest, largest and leading Russian medical university, founded in 1758. Currently, over 18,000 students from Russia and other countries of the world (Malaysia, China, Syria, India, Iran, Brazil, as well as other countries in Asia, Africa and South America) are studying at Sechenov University.

Sechenov University is actively developing as a major medical center. It includes 25 institutes combining educational programs and scientific research. More than 2,000 teachers work with students, 85 per cent of whom have an academic degree.

The training is based on 120 departments. As many as 197 students from Tatarstan study at the university. Minnikhanov got acquainted with the main directions of the university’s work, visited the scientific and educational spaces and discussed the management prospects for further cooperation.

The Rais of the republic also met with the teaching staff and students of the university. During the conversation Rustam Minnikhanov informed about the development of medical infrastructure in Tatarstan, about the employment opportunities of young medical professionals, as well as about various support measures, including housing.

At the end, the Ministry of Health of Tatarstan and Sechenov University signed a cooperation agreement.
