Rustam Minnikhanov visits the facility of Tatarstan State Archives in Laishevo region

On 13 the Rais (Head) of Tatartan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by the Head of the Office of the Rais of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov and the Chairman of the Tatarstan State Committee for Archival Affairs Gulnara Gabdrakhmanova visited the facility of Tatarstan State Archives located in the Settlement of Stolbische in Laishevo region of the republic.

Main depositories of the Archives moved to a new building in 2022 and now there are all necessary conditions for storing both hard copy and audio-visual documents. When Rustam Minnikhanov was looking round the reading room, the genealogical inquiries department, the manuscripts restoration center and the archives documents storage, Gulnara Gabdrakhmanova told him about projects being implemented by the archives department, including an examination-test commission in e-form, working with more than 44 thousand residents’ inquiries every year, restoration of documents and so on. On top of that together with the Tatarmultfilm cartoons amalgamation the Archives has developed a children’s education project “Istelek”.

Currently Tatarstan ranks the second in the Volga Federal district in the amount of files stored in the Archives and for preservation of especially valuable documents for the remote access, it has started digitalization and restoration of them.

Gulnara Abdrakhmanova also told Rustam Minnikhanov about the plans for the future, including active implementation of AI in archive-keeping and establishing an archive for audio and visual documents.
