Rais of Tatarstan takes part in opening of the new production of the ICL in Tatarstan

On 13 the Rais (Head) of Tatartan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremonial opening of a new computer technique and circuit card SM plant of the ICL Company at the Laishevo industrial park of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Innopolis in Laishevo region of the republic.

Before the beginning of the ceremony, the Director General of the Gazprom Transgas Kazan Company Rustem Usmanov reported to the Rais of the republic about completion of work in laying the gas-pipe to the border of the SEZ and said that the gas supply will be launched in less than in the following four months.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov said:  Today we are having a landmark event. A new plant which will produce boards – it will start with 300 thousand but we expect it to become a million, has appeared. It goes without saying that this project is focused on providing independence of our country in IT sphere. And we are grateful to our federal colleagues for their support.”

Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasiliy Shpak, who also took part in the ceremony, said that the launch of the new high tech production is an important moment for the development of the domestic electronics industry and wished the ICL to develop, expand its technological chain and create new jobs.

The new plant will carry out surface-mount manufacturing of circuit boards and install them in processors according to customers’ requirements, which will also make it possible to double the amount of assembly of system units and all-in-one PCs, laptops and tablets and servers.

After Rustam Minnikhanov looked round production lines of the new enterprise and got acquainted with its produce, he held a working meeting on issues of the further development of the ICL Group and the Laishevo Industrial Park in Tatarstan.

Speaking at the meeting, he said: “I think that at proper time we took the correct decision concerning the Innopolis Special Zone. We have a university and technical parks concentrated at the site in Verkhniy Uslon regions and here it gives production. The Laishevo Industrial park is located close to Kazan and its airport and has all necessary infrastructure – all this gives competitive advantages.”
