On 9 November the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin attended the opening night of a documentary “Captain Tarpschev life peak” based on the biography of the President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpischev and dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Russia winning the Davis Cup in 2002, with such famous Russian tennis players as Marat Safitn, Mikhail Yuzhnyy and Yevgeniy Kafelnikov taking part in it.
In his welcoming speech before the show, Shamil Tarpischev said:”It is a great honor to be here with you. I am extremely grateful to the administration of Tatarstan as it is due to your efforts that the whole sports movement including tennis prospers in the republic.”
In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Shamil Tarpischev has made a huge contribution into tennis popularization and development in the country and added: “We were, are and will be proud of you and your achievements. Our friendship has changed Kazan and Tatarstan a lot. And here it goes not just about tennis but also how we were going to the Universiade-2013 and developed the Tennis Academy together.”
