On 7 November the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Amanbai Orinbaev, with the Counselor to Uzbekistan President Tursinkhan Khudaibergenov taking part in it.
Welcoming the delegation of Tatarstan, Amanbai Orinbaev congratulated them with the yesterday’s Day of the Constitution of the republic and said: “We consider today’s meeting to be an illustrative example of strengthening of cooperation between Russian regions and Uzbekistan. And your visit is historical for us.”
He emphasized that today Russia is the main consumer of products manufactured in Karakalpakstan and proposed to organize a working group for setting up closer relations with Tatarstan.
In his turn the Counselor to Uzbekistan President passed warm greetings from Shavkat Mirziyoyev, having emphasized that the Uzbekistan President attaches serious attention to this visit, seeing the prospects for developing cooperation between two regions.
In his greeting speech, Rustam Minnikhanov stated: “We highly appreciate the opportunity to cooperate with your country within the framework of friendly Uzbekistan-Russia relations. Special merit for this goes to Presidents of our countries Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.”
He informed that by the results of last year Tatarstan-Uzbekistan trade turnover exceeded 290m dollars and in the first half of the current year it already reached 147.7m dollars, showing the growth of 30 per cent.
As for the proposal of organizing a working group, Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade to swing into action.
At the meeting the administration of Karakalpakstan came forward with an initiative to establish a special zone, taking into consideration the experience of Tatarstan and successful implementation of similar projects in Chirchik. The parties agreed that specialists will analyze the potential of sites which the delegation saw earlier today.
The participants of the meeting also discussed an issue of training specialists, in particular establishing special educational centers at enterprises using the experience of the KAMAZ.
