Tatarstan Ministry of Agriculture: Field works are close to completion in the republic

On 28 October, speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov by video conference with all municipalities of the republic and with participation of the Chairman of the State Council of the republic Farid Mukhametshin and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic, the regional First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Lenar Garipov informed that field works are close to completion in the republic. Last week farmers finished harvesting potatoes and they have to thresh 9 thousand hectares of sunflower, 3 thousand hectares of corn and harvest 2.8 thousand hectares of sugar beet, he reported.

Sugar beet is processes simultaneously with its harvesting and 93 tonnes of granulated sugar have already been produced, Lenar Garipov said. 

He informed that after recent rains the condition of winter crops improved a little from 40 per cent in the beginning of October to 64 per cent being in good or satisfactory conditions currently. In case of re-sowing of crops there is a substantial stock of seeds in the amount of 50 thousand tonnes, he said. 

After having informed about mineral fertilizers procurement for the nest year in various regions of the republic, Lenar Garipov reported that farmers made a stock of 421 thousand tonnes of hay, 2m tonnes of haylage and 2m 149 thousand tonnes of silage and one of the main tasks for today is to finish the underwinter ploughing of soil, with 25 thousand hectares are still to be ploughed. 

Informing about agricultural machinery repairs to be done, the regional First Deputy Minister said it is planned to repair 11 thousand tractors, 3.5 thousand combines and more than 5 thousand sowing and tilling machines.
