On 25 October at their meeting in Moscow, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitriy Chernyshenko and the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov , who came to Moscow on a working trip, discussed preparations for the International Multi-sports Tournament “The Games of the Future” to be held in Kazan from 21 February to 3 March of 2024.
Speaking at the meeting, Dmitriy Chernyshenko said: “The championship held by the decree from Russian President Vladimir Putin will become the first large scale event in the world harmoniously combining cyber- and physical sports. Kazan is ready for the Games as it already has held 10 phygital competitions, with 1 200 people from 48 countries having taken part in them. As many as 60 people from 27 countries came by a special programme “An observer” and there was also high interest from spectators as there was 105m reviewing at all digital and streaming platforms. I am sure the days of the championship will become a fest nor only for its participants but for the whole world community which appreciates just sports, development and new innovative formats.”
He added that for athletes, fans and guests from all over the world there will be a special hospitality programme and a unique project “The City of the Future”, which will become the point of attraction for online and offline spectators.
In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov informed that preparation for the Games are going on according to the approved plan and 8 test events were held at various sports facilities in 2023. In particular, competitions in phygital basketball, phygital football and phygital tactic combat were held from 2 to 23 October he said and added he is sure that in March 2024 Tatarstan will host the Games of the Future and have all events at the high organizational level.
“We will try our best for the Games of the Future coming in 2024 to become not just an important event in the sphere of sports and high tech but also the athletes and spectators to remember them as a fest. I am sure the Games and phygital games competitions will make a decent contribution into promotion of sports and healthy life style. To popularize the championship we are planning to organize events dedicated to the date “100 days to the Games of the Future” during the international exhibition-forum “Russia,” Rustam Minnikhanov told.
The first Games of the Future will be organized in new kinds of sports using modern technologies, digital environment and physical activity. The competitions format presupposes the use of the latest developments in cyber-sports, robotics, augmented and virtual reality, IT and AI.
