Rustam Minnikhanov meets Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev

On 4 October on the sidelines of the III Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhano stated that as the Co-Chairman of the Russia-Uzbekistan Inter-Governmental Commission, Jamshid Khodjaev attaches great attention to issues of development of interaction and implementation of joint projects.

“We highly appreciate the opportunity to expand cooperation with your country within the framework of Russia-Uzbekistan relations. This is the special merit of President so four countries,” he said. 

He said that by the results of the last year the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan exceeded 290m dollars, showing the growth of 50 per cent and added: “We should continue increasing the amount and the range of mutually shipped products and services.” 

The Rais of the republic noted that lately Tatarstan , in particular its Chamber of Commerce and such leading companies of the republic as the KAMAZ, the Special Economic Zone of Alabuga, KIP Master, Eidos and others, actively interacts with Uzbekistan partners.

Last year the Khimgrad from Tatarstan and Uzbekistan partners opened the joint project of chemical and industrial park in Chirchik and Kazan Federal University opened its branch in Dzhizak.  

Jamshid Khodjaev emphasized that a large delegation from Uzbekistan, including minister and Hokims of regions came to Tatarstan and also noted close interaction with the KAMAZ and Khimgrad companies as well as implementation of new joint projects in textile industry. 

“Rutsam Nurgaliyevich, last year the growth of our trade turnover was 50 per cent and we expect that by the result of this year we will manage to achieve at least 60-70 per cent growth,” Jamshid Khodjaev added. 

The III Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan has been organized on the eve of the visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia, the agenda of which also includes a trip to Tatarstan.
