On October 3, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons, celebrated on 1 October, First Deputy Minister of Health of Tatarstan Almir Abashev said that in Tatarstan, pensioners who have previously suffered from COVID-19, need an in-depth medical examination.

“We focus on working with older people who have suffered from COVID-19, and they undergo more advanced diagnostics, including parameters of blood clotting, the functioning of the cardiovascular system. It is also possible to consult a doctor and undergo the same in-depth medical examination,” Abashev said.

According to him, this year in Tatarstan, a total of 523 thousand pensioners underwent medical examination, which makes almost 56 per cent of the total number. Every 13th pensioner was diagnosed new disease.

In Tatarstan there are almost 967 thousand residents over working age. They account for 24.2 per cent of the total population.

Speaking at a briefing, the Head of the Russian Pension Fund Department in Tatarstan Eduard Vafin informed that today in Tatarstan, there are over 130 thousand people aged 80 and over.
