Rustam Minnikhanov meets Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana

On 25 September at his meeting with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the presidential residence Akord, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov , who came on a working trip to take part in the International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM. Kazakhstan” held in Astana, thanked President Tokayev for hospitality and personal attention to the development of Tatarstan-Kazakhstan cooperation aimed at strengthening relations between countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov also emphasized successful social and economic development of Kazakhstan over the last years. “Kazakhstan makes it all way to the new round of development when special attention is attached to provision of the just distribution of national wealth. It was very interesting for me to get acquainted with your address to population “The economic course of Just Kazakhstan.” I am sure your experience in diversification of economy, industrial cycles localization, strengthening positions in agriculture, implementation of transport and logistics potential, digitalization and introduction of innovations and in other spheres will be interesting for Tatarstan”, he said.

During their conversation, the parties also discussed progress in implementation of joint projects being carried out in Kazakhstan and exchanged their opinions in issues of prospects for mutual trade-economic and cultural cooperation.

“We have a lot of opportunities for cooperation and first of all in economy. Despite the annual growth of our trade turnover, we do not use all our capacities in full. These processes should become more dynamic and the interaction should be ramped up,” Rustam Minnikhanov stated.

He emphasized the importance of developing interaction in the spheres of culture, science, education, tourism and sports and added: “More than 1200 students from Kazakhstan study at universities of our republic and the Kazakh National and Cultural Autonomy is actively working in Tatarstan. I would like to express my special thanks for supporting the Tatar community – that is more than 200 thousand people – living in Kazakhstan.”

In conclusion of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov briefly told about the international economic forum “Russia-The Islamic world :KazanForum”, about the new international project “The Games of the Future”, about preparation to the summit of heads of the BRICS and BRICS+ countries and other large scale events to be held in Tatarstan in 2024.

He also said he is sure the Kazakhstan will be also represented at these events and invited Kassym-Jomart Tokayev once again to visit Tatarstan during next trip to Russia.
