On 14 September Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the 47th session of the State Council of the republic of the sixth convocation, where during the brake he attended the exhibition dedicated to the ethnographic project “The Embroidered Map of Tatarstan”.
The idea of making the map appeared after the Embroidered Map of Russia was presented in Moscow last December, and representing the unique embroidered map of Tatarstan, showing all 43 regions and 2 municipalities of the republic, to the State Counselor, the regional Minister of Culture Irada Ayupova told that the map was embroidered by folk and arts and crafts professional artists. Every region demonstrates its own traditional style of embroidery which is characteristic for this place.
After craftswomen, who were present at the exhibition, told Mintimer Shaimiev about the process, technology and symbolism of the embroidered images, he thanked everybody who took part in the project.
“You did a nice job! You showed a very discerning approach from the point of view of the purpose of the maps. This is a very good step on the path of revival of our multi-national intangible cultural heritage,” he said.
