Tatarstan Ministry of Forestry: In 2023 the federal budget allocated 96m rubles on implementation of the “Forest Preservation” project

On 12 September, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Forestry Ravil Kuzyrov told about forest pests, wages of forest rangers and impact of glampings on forests. 

He informed that Tatarstan forests are endangered by a very harmful pest of Lymantria dispar which eats leaves of 300 species of plants including nearly all broadleaves, coniferous trees and many species of bushes, such as oaks, birch trees, poplars, limes, willows, plum and apple trees, and added that the main reason for this pest to migrate to Tatarstan from Bashkortostan and Orenburg region were mild winter and hot summer and the decrease of the number of insect eaters.

The Minister also informed about work done in auditing the number of egg-laying and destroying or repelling the abundance of the pest on land and using aviation.

Speaking about forest rangers salaries, Ravil Kuzyurov informed than in 2019 the Ministry put forward an initiative to increase the payroll budget in the Ministry and its subordinate organizations. “The initiative found support and today wages are from 37 000 to 45 000 rubles and in the forestry sections from 30 to 35 thousand depending on the length of service,” he said.

As for campings and glampings, the Minister said: “The position of forest rangers is as follows: it is necessary to follow strictly all fire safety rules and requirements and to have careful attitude to nature. There are few glampings in the forestry fund so far and they are located in Zelenodolsk region. We inform them about our requirements and they develop their projects which then they submit for approval of our specialists.”

He assured that specialists of the Tatarstan Forestry Ministry carefully monitor the safekeeping of tress on these territories and informed that in the current year the federal budget allocated 96m rubles to the republic for implementation of the “Forest Preservation” project.
