On 2 September, speaking at a ceremony of opening of a new terminal of Beguishevo Airport in Tatarstan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the construction of the new terminal was the result of the growing passengers flow in the airport.
“Today we are opening the new terminal which corresponds to all air transport requirements. The next stage is to fix the runway. It is a wonderful airport which will be 100 per cent in demand as about 1m people are living nearby,” the Rais of Tatarstan underlined.
The large scale work of the airport reconstruction began in 2019 with the total area of the new terminal being 8 500 square meters and the capacity of 400 passengers an hour. It has all necessary amenities, including HVAC systems, information screens, spacious transit lounges, CCTVs and check systems.
Speaking at the ceremony, Russian Deputy Minister of Transport Igor Chalik said: “Civil aircraft has always played a substantial role in our lives, taking into consideration its colossal size. It has always been this way - with the growth of a regions the infrastructure of the airport in also developing. It is a business card for guests and a pride for the residents. We are grateful to builders, designers and investors – the KAMAZ Company. Now we are facing the task of exceeding the number of 1 m passengers a year.”
In his turn the Director General of the KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin stated that the Beguishevo Airport is very important for development of the economy of the republic as “a substantial number of large industrial enterprises of Tatarstan are located in the Kama zone. When constructing the terminal we set forth the most important task - to make it as comfortable for passengers as possible.”
After Rustam Minnikhanov walked round the terminal he was told about plans for further development of the airport, including the runway reconstruction.
Currently the Beguishevo airport located 25 kilometers away from Nabezezhnyye Chelny and 29.5 kilometers from Nizhnekamsk serves 10 directions having carried 618 thousand passengers last year.
