On 29 August, speaking at a plenary session of the II Kazan Global Youth Summit held in the Kazan City Hall with participation of the Russian Presidential Envoy in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, the Chairman of the Russian Movement of children and youth “The Movement of the First” Grigoriy Gurov, the Deputy Head of the Federal Agency on Youth Affairs Damir Fattakhov, the President of the OIC Youth Forum (OIC YF) Taha Ayhan and the Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the youth policy is a priority for the development of human capital both in the republic and the whole country.

The plenary session is dedicated to the topic of the role of traditional values in raising children and young people in the modern world, and addressing its participants, Igor Komarov said: “Our country considers traditional values to be the foundation for the development of the Russian society, ensuring unity of our multi-ethnic and multi-confessional country. Russian President Vladimir Putin has defined spheres of education and work with youth as one of the main areas of implementation of the state policy in preservation and strengthening traditional values. Russia together with countries keeping to humanitarian traditional values counteracts efforts to change both these values and the nature of a human by destroying the cultural and ethical foundations of civilization. And the upbringing of next generation is the most important part of this counteraction”.

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that last year Kazan got the status of the OIC Youth Capital and it was for the first time that this status was given to the city from the country – non OIC member. “We are proud of the high level of our relations with the OIC and are happy to expand interaction with its specialized institutions such as the OIC YF and ISESCO,” he said.

“Youth policy is a priority for the development of human capital of our republic and the whole country. In 2020 Russia passed the Federal Law on Young People and last year Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an errand to establish youth affairs ministries in every region of the country. Tatarstan established its Ministry of Youth Affairs already in 2018”, Rustam Minnikhanov reminded

He underlined: “Healthy values, which are defined by the environment a child grows and develops as a youth citizen of the state, are the foundation for the development of a harmoniously developed personality Today Internet, with its challenges becoming more and more serious, has a great impact on a child and this requires new quality of work. Quite often children and the youth do not know about opportunities created for them in their country.”

Having mentioned NGOs and public amalgamations working with youth and children, Rustam Minnikhav stated: “International youth cooperation plays an important role in strengthening  relations between Russia and the Islamic world” and concluded by saying he was sure that further joint work with the OIC YF and the Movement of the First will make an important humanitarian contribution into building the multi-polar and sustainable world based of values of mutual respect and cultural diversity.
