On 20 August the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came to Budapest on the invitation from Hungary to take part in the main public holiday of the State Foundation Day, had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik and the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović.
Welcoming Rustam Minnikhanov, Milorad Dodik said: “We are happy to meet you. Unfortunately it was not possible to meet you earlier because of the pandemic. But as soon as we heard that you are here we decided to meet you.”
He emphasized that despite the situation in the world, Bosnia and Herzegovina is utterly opposed to sanctions against Russia.
“We appreciate your consistent position in the issue of cooperation with the Russian Federation,” Rustam Minnikhanov stated.
He attracted attention to the fact that Tatarstan and Bosnia and Herzegovina are practically similar in territory and population, in particular concerning the issues of inter-confessional relations. The majority of the country confesses Sunni Islam and Orthodoxy at the same time having Catholics, Jews and other confessions.
Milorad Dodik reminded that had several meeting with the President of Russia and expressed his deep respect to Vladimir Putin. He informed that he is preparing another visit to Russia and will be happy to come to Kazan as a part of its agenda.
