On 19 August, Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Budapest, had a meeting with the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Mnnikhanov thanked the Prime Minister of Hungary for a warm reception, having stated that both parties have a long cooperation history.
“Cooperation between Tatarstan and Hungary is developing within Russia-Hungary relation and despite the situation in the world our connections are stable and friendly,” he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov also informed that last year the Tatarstan-Hungary trade turnover more than doubled and reached about 1bn dollars.
The Hungarian Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Rustam Minnikhanov for his visit by saying: “Thank you for coming to us. It is a great honor for us. Tomorrow we are having our national holiday and we like to celebrate it with our friends.
Recollecting his last visit to Tatarstan, Viktor Orban said: “We will never forget the hospitality we were received with in Kazan.”

The first Tatarstan-Hungary inter-governmental cooperation agreement was signed in 1992 and in addition to joint work with large enterprises, there is cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, healthcare and transport.
