Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan and Ulyanovsk have good prospects for increasing their trade and economic ties

On 18 August at his meeting with the Governor of Ulyanovsk region Aleksey Russkikh and business communities of both regions, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan and Ulyanovsk have good prospects for increasing their trade and economic ties taking into consideration the transport accessibility and close branches of industry and agriculture. 

Prior to the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived to Ulyanovsk on a reciprocal visit as the head of a delegation comprising representatives of more than 30 companies from Tatarstan, looked round an exhibition of Yulyanovsk produced cars and special machinery produced by the Avtodom, SIMAZ, Engineering Service-Putmash and KTZ Metallokosntruktsiya companies.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan and Ulyanovsk historically have good partnership relations. ”Ulyanovsk region has rich industrial and scientific potential. In 2016-2017 the interregional trade turnover was 7bn rubles. I am sure this number has substantially grown today. We have good prospects for increasing trade and economic cooperation as our enterprises and organizations are ready to develop partnership in spheres of machine0buiding, automotive and aircraft building, healthcare transport logistics, introduction of energy saving technologies and increasing reciprocal deliveries,” he said. 

He stated that Tatarstan supplies gas and diesel, trucks and SUVs, chemical products, nitrogen fertilizers, medical equipment and other goods to Ulyanovsk region while the latter delivers trucks and SUVs, concrete, agricultural produce and many other goods to the republic. “I am sure this visit will give a new impetus to the cooperation between Tatarstan and Ulyanovsk region,” the Rais of the republic said. 

He informed that Tatarstan is developing the innovative and industrial infrastructure and added: “We are always ready to exchange experience in the spheres of supporting entrepreneurship and training personnel for the industry. Our regions also have good opportunities for developing contacts in youth policy, education, culture and sports and tourism.” 

In his turn Aleksey Russkikh stated that Ulyanovsk companies are traditional partners of Tatarstan business and because of “unfriendly companies” leaving the region, its enterprises actively joined the import replacement projects. 

“After our business mission to Tatarstan we have developed more than 50 potential industrial cooperation and have signed first contracts for the delivery of sensors, fittings, equipment repairs services and plastic and  metal goods. I express my sincere gratitude to the delegations from Tatarstan headed by the Rais of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov for joint work in setting up cooperation. Inter-regional interaction is one of the priorities of our work”, the Governor said In conclusion of the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov and Aleksey Russlikh signed a Protocol on results of their meeting and an agreement between the regions on participation in the project of the trade and logistics channel “The Middle Volga- the Caspian Sea – the Persian Gulf”, which envisages cooperation in assembly of joint cargo for its farther shipment to the Persian Gulf.
