On August 18, during his working visit to Dimitrovgrad, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov accompanied by the Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Aleksey Russkikh visited Federal Scientific and Clinical Centre for Medical Radiology and Oncology, which is operating since 2018 and is one of the largest institutions in the structure of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency and the only complex of the «closed cycle». The Centre presents all existing methods of cancer diagnosis and treatment used in nuclear medicine.
“The heart” of the medical institution is the proton centre, which has 4 treatment rooms, designed to help 1,200 patients a year. Minnikhanov was informed that in 2021, 830 patients, including 17 children, were treated with proton therapy, also got acquainted with the work of the Center for Nuclear Medicine, which combined the department of radionuclide diagnostics and the department of radionuclide therapy, providing a holistic approach to medical and diagnostic measures.
