On 16 August on the sidelines of the yearly regional meeting of education and science workers held in the Rameev IT-Park in Kazan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with schoolchildren who finished school with maximum USE scores and winners of the international and All-Russia school Olympics.

Addressing the youngsters, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized their high results in passing the USE and said: “We have a tradition of meeting the best of the best graduates who have demonstrated high results. You are our pride and it is very important for us what your life will be and where you want to continue your education. There are various approaches but I think a person himself must define where and what to study. But in any case we must stay in touch no matter where you have decided to study – in St Pete, Moscow or Kazan as any of you is needed in our republic. Today you are making just first steps, so continue working hard and try to achieve new heights. We are proud of you! I want to wish you all your dreams come true. Good luck and Godspeed”.

Rustam Minnikhanov talked with the school graduates and answered their questions about what profession he would choose today, what should the work with young people include and whom he considered to be his mentor.

Answering the first question, the Rais of the republic said that he would choose an engineering major, as by his background he is the engineer-mechanic. As for the youth policy, Rustam Minnikhanov said that is was a big mistake not to pay attention to the youth that is why it is very important to develop the Movement of the First.

As for the mentors, the Rais of the republic said: “The first mentors for me were first of all my parents and my grandmother. I could see how my grandmother worked and lived. Then people from the kindergarten, school and university. And the First President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev is one of my most important mentors. He has taught me a lot.  Well, I think that you must also be lucky to have people to work with and the place to work at. I am very grateful to every one of them as I could learn and take something from each of them. But first of all these are parents.”
