On 27 July at their meeting on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Bilal discussed issues of cooperation and strengthening relations.

“I am happy to meet you on the sidelines of the important event – the second summit and the economic forum “Russia-Africa the aim of which is to reach qualitative new level of mutually beneficial partnership of Russia and African countries corresponding to all modern challenges,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Having stated that relations of Russia and African countries have always been warm and developed constructively, he emphasized that today interaction of Tatarstan and Mauritania within Russia-Mauritania relations are moving forward.

At its level Tatarstan is ready to facilitate strengthening of Russia-Mauritania relations as there is the potential for developing connections in such spheres as power industry, machine-building, car-building and their components manufacture, IT and other high-tech spheres, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agribusiness and so on, Rustam Minnikhanov said.

In his turn the Mauritanian Prime Minister told that he was at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and received a lot of interesting and useful information about Russia.

He also emphasized that Mauritania is a developing country and there are huge possibilities for investments. “The policy of our country is aimed at the development of raw materials industry. Mutually beneficial cooperation would be rather valuable for us as your knowledge and experience are necessary and in demand especially today when we are going to cut the raw materials export to the minimum and to concentrate on their processing in the country,” he said.

Mohamed Ould Bilal also informed that business circles of Mauritania can establish business contacts with manufacturers of Tatarstan. “We will propose our business-structures to set up cooperation with Tatarstan and give them all necessary contacts to study your possibilities and take part in international events, including the KazanForum”, he said.

The Rais of Tatarstan confirmed the interest in developing relations and said to the Prime Minister: “We are looking forward to your business delegations in Tatarstan.”
