On 18 July, speaking at his meeting with the Chairman of the Konya Chamber of Industry Mustafa Büyükeğin during his working visit to the City of Konya, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that cooperation of Tatarstan and Turkey within Russia-Turkey relations has long history and the task is to ramp up amount of cooperation, including that with business of Konya.
He emphasized that Tatarstan and Turkey have long-standing fruitful trade and economic relations, with their trade turnover amounting to 1.2bn dollars in 2022, which more than doubled compared to 2021.
“Turkish business is profoundly represented in Tatarstan. Companies from you country have invested about 2bn dollars into our republic. Such plants as Kastamonu Entegre, Hayat Kimya, Şişecam, Coşkunöz, Koluman, Tursan Kardan and others successfully work in Tatarstan,” the Rais of the republic said.
He emphasized that the republic always supports initiatives in developing interaction with Turkish partners aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Tukey. These relations have reached a high level due to personal efforts of Presidents of the countries as “both Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attach great attention to the development of interregional cooperation“, Rustam Minnikhanov said.
He also told about the economic, industrial and investments potential of the republic and concluded: “We hope to find new partners from Konya. We invite your business circles to visit Tatarstan. Our main task is to launch several projects which will become an example for others."
Mustafa Büyükeğin thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for visiting Konya and great attention attached to cooperation issues. “We are happy to meet you. I am sure now our ties will become stronger and we will meet more often. We are interested in developing cooperation,” he said.
Konya is the leader of Turkey in agriculture and agricultural machine-building. Other branches of industry well developed in the province are auto components and furniture manufacture and machine tool industry. Konya also has 13 large industrial zones, 95 industrial parks which house 8 600 companies, manufacturing metal products, machinery and equipment, rubber and plastic good etc. It ranks 12th in Turkey in the amount of export, every year sending 3.3bn dollars of goods abroad.
