Rustam Minnikhanov to the Governor of Konya: We have a great desire to strengthen our cooperation

On 17 July, speaking at his meeting with the Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working visit to the province, said that being the agricultural center of the country, Konya has an important place in economy of Turkey and the republic has have a great desire to strengthen mutual cooperation

He stated that Tatarstan-Turkey cooperation has rich history and strong bases. “Last year our trade turnover doubled and reached 1.2 bn dollars. This year the growth trend still continues,” he said. 

Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan and Konya have good possibilities for developing business relations as both regions have well-developed agriculture and industry. “We should ramp up our contacts. The potential for the development of trade and economic cooperation is huge. We have much in common,” he stressed. 

The Rais of Tatarstan said that interaction in agribusiness is one of the key spheres of joint work, with relations in the spheres of culture, tourism, science and education also being promising.

Vahdettin Özkan thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for visiting Konya. “It is a great honour for us to meet you. We know how much you are interested in cooperation with Turkey. Tatarstan in one of the leading regions of Russia, while Konya in its turn is the largest province in our country with developed agribusiness. We also work hard in developing industry. I quite agree with you – there many possibilities for development of our cooperation,” the Governor added.
