Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in an oil summit in Almetyevsk

On 14 July the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov  took part in opening of the oil summit of administrations of regional oil companies, which this year is dedicated to 75 years of discovery of Romashkino oil deposit, and IV International Oil and Gas Youth Forum in Almetyevsk.

Before the summit Rustam Minnikhanov got acquainted with the oil branch exposition where representatives of the industrial clusters of Tatarstan and Perm, such as the BM-Group, ELKAM, the Naberezhnyye Chelny pipe plant and others, showed their achievements and technologies and told the Rais of the republic about promising developments in oil industry from the leading universities of the republic.

Speaking at the plenary session, the main topics of which were the development of domestic fuel and energy complex by 2050, decarbonization and the ESG-agenda, Rustam Minnikhanov said that for more than 20 years of its history the oil summit has become one of the most fruitful platforms for discussing a broad circle of issues related to the development of oil branch. ”As for economy of our republic, its main base is oil industry which is gradually transforming into oil-processing industry as we process more than 22m out of 36m tonnes of oil we extract. The republic develops tire production, petrochemical and biotechnical branches, “he said.

Emphasizing the importance of the human capital in development of economy, the Rais of the republic said: “Serious educational centers are needed and we are dealing actively with these issues. We have got good experience when hosting WorldSkills. We have understood that it is necessary to introduce new standards for training specialists and organized 45 resource centers each of which has its anchor customer. On top of that we have a serious project of Alabuga-Politech which currently trains 1 300 students and their number will grow up to 10 000 by 2025. Moreover there are students not only from Russia but also from Central Asia, Africa and Latin America.”  

In his speech Rustam Minnikhanov paid special attention to anchoring your specialists in the republic and concluded:” Large transformations are happening in the world today. And there various ideas about what kinds of energy will be in demand in the future and how the market will be shaped. But I am sure that having such refinery and petrochemical industry and introducing new technologies and materials we will remain competitive.”

Later the same day, taking part in the meeting “The Dialogues of equal” held during IV International Oil and Gas Youth Forum, which is taking place on the sidelines of the oil summit with participation of 240 young specialists, scientists teachers and students from leading oil and gas universities of Russia and abroad, Rustam Minnikhanov discussed with young people  issues of mentorship, development of universities, the future of oil industry and internship of foreign students in oil and gas companies of Tatarstan. 

After that the Rais of the republic gave start to Hackathon, where young teams will solve important business tasks in oil production, processing, ESG-agenda and others.
