On June 20, in Kazan, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roman Shaykhutdinov took part in a meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Council of Archival Institutions of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation, chaired by Head of the Archives Committee of Nizhny Novgorod region Boris Pudalov.

The Scientific and Methodological Council brought together an expert community of archivists from the regions of the Volga Federal District to exchange experience and discuss issues related to the modern development of archiving. Among such issues are the development of a scientific reference apparatus, training for archives, the creation of electronic Memory books of villages and municipalities and others.

Roman Shaykhutdinov welcomed the meeting participants on behalf of Tatarstan Government and said that the country’s archives are a strategically important information resource, whose role for the country in the context of the transition to a digital economy is only increasing. The Speaker emphasized the high importance of preserving both digital electronic content and original documents that need to be created exclusively on paper.

“The archives of Tatarstan are actively involved in the process of digital transformation: they work in the state information system in archiving, use intelligent search engines and accept an electronic mandatory copy via the telecommunications network. But they face new challenges related to the formation of a digital e-resource, integration with information resources of other industries, remote use of e-documents - and the experience of colleagues from other cities and countries in the further search of efficient solutions will be very useful,” Deputy Prime Minister of the republic concluded.
