Rustam Minnikhanov has a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev

On June 17, during his working visit to Azerbaijan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

He emphasized that Tatarstan highly appreciates Ilham Aliyev's personal attention to cooperation with the republic under the friendly Russian-Azerbaijani relations. Rais of the republic reminded that Mintimer Shaimiev and Heydar Aliyev laid down these good traditions.

Last year, the Tatarstan-Azerbaijan trade turnover exceeded 125 million US dollars with an increase of 78 percent. For the first three months of the current year, mutual trade showed an increase of 16 percent and amounted to 20.5 million US dollars. Tatarstan exports agricultural, pharmaceutical and paper products to Azerbaijan. In turn, oil products, minerals, fruits and vegetables are imported from Azerbaijan.

The Volga and the Caspian connect our republics. We should make more active use of the transport and logistics capabilities of the Volga-Caspian basin,” Minnikhanov said.

Aliyev noted with gratitude the attitude with which the leadership of Tatarstan approaches the implementation of projects. “We have already exchanged delegations and held consultations. Great prospects open for industrial cooperation, a huge layer is cultural cooperation. The relations between us are a significant contribution to strengthening the allied relations between Russia and Azerbaijan», Aliyev said. During the meeting, in which the Director General of KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogonin also took part, the options of expanding cooperation with enterprises in cooperation were discussed.
