As many as 60 public spaces and 1,000 courtyards to be improved in Tatarstan this year

On June 13, at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, the participants discussed facilities that were included in the list for the improvement for the next year and how the programme is implemented this year. During the online voting, about 400,000 people expressed their wishes and have chosen the sites - courtyards and public spaces that would like to improve.

The programme of improvement territories started in Tatarstan in 2015. The main condition was that residents of the republic choose places of improvement themselves. Then in parks and squares, Tatarstan residents participated in public discussions. Since 2018, the movement has acquired a federal scale and became part of the national project «Formation of a comfortable urban environment». Now all residents of Russia vote for such projects.

Now the work is underway on the facilities that Tatarstan residents chose last year. As many as 60 public spaces are being improved, 2.3 billion roubles have been allocated from the budget. In total, from 2015 to 2022, 367 public spaces in the republic received a new look. The total amount of investments amounted to almost 19 billion roubles. Public areas are also upgraded under the small towns contest, which has been held since 2018.

The experience gained allowed the republic to become one of the leading regions in the number of successful projects. For five years, 40 projects of Tatarstan received grants in the amount of 2.7 billion roubles from the federal budget, including 8 objects in the amount of almost 700 million roubles in 2023», Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin said.

Then, the meeting participants got acquainted with the public places, yards and other facilities chosen for improvement.
