On 9 June Tatarstan State Councilor Mintimer Shaimiev, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Revival Fund and the UNESCO Good Will Ambassador, had a meeting with the Director of the Department on Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations of the Russian Foreign Ministry Aleksandr Alimov, who came to take part in the International Forum of Education Ministers “Shaping the Future”, which is held in Kazan from 7 to 11 June.
During the meeting Mintimer Shaimiev showed Aleksandr Alimov the exposition demonstrating the work of the Regional Revival Fund in preservation of the cultural and historical heritage and told about projects of revival of the Ancient City of Bolgar and the Town-Island of Sviyazhsk, establishment of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and reconstruction of the Kazan Virgin Cathedral and establishment of the Adymnar poly-lingual complexes implemented by the Fund.
At their meeting the parties also discussed issues on development of cooperation of Tatarstan with UNESCO, in particular the promotion of the astronomical observatory of Kazan Federal University to be inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The member of the Russian State Duma Tatyana Larionova and the Executive Director of the Regional Revival Fund Zulfiya Sungatullina also took part in the meeting.

The Department on Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations is a new unit of the Russian Foreign Ministry established by the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin from 20 May 2022 for strengthening, expansion and ramping up the humanitarian influence of Russia abroad and development of multilateral and international humanitarian cooperation in culture, tourism, science, education, sports and other spheres including provision of interaction and coordination of cooperation with UNESCO.
