Rais of Tatarstan discusses issues of cooperation with the Minister of Trade of Pakistan

On May 18, on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2023”, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Minister for Commerce and Investment of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Syed Naveed Qamar.

Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Pakistan is one of Russia's priority partners in Southeast Asia. Relations between the countries are developing in a positive way. There are good prospects for cooperation in various sectors, including transport, energy, and the humanitarian sphere. Interaction under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is developing.

Tatarstan is interested in cooperation with Pakistan under the Russian-Pakistani relations, the Rais of the republic said. He said that he visited the cities of Lahore and Islamabad in 2017, delegations from Pakistan also visited Tatarstan.

Among the promising areas of cooperation, Rustam Minnikhanov outlined the trade and economic sphere, education and science, tourism and culture. Good opportunities for dialogue have been created at the site of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group.

Minnikhanov said it is necessary to increase the volume of mutual trade. The Republic is ready to export helicopters, ships, trucks, petrochemical products, mineral fertilizers, agro-industrial products, various types of equipment to Pakistan. The Minister for Commerce of Pakistan highly appreciated the economic achievements of Tatarstan. He underlined that the business of Pakistan is interested in working in the Russian market, including in Tatarstan. “We should get to know each other better, identify areas for cooperation. It can be textile and light industry, agriculture and oil processing”, Syed Naveed Qamar said and offered to organize a meeting of Tatarstan and Pakistani business circles.
