On May 17, at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin discussed issues of further cooperation, including in the sphere of education.
Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin arrived in Kazan to take part in the XIV International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic world. KazanForum 2023” and Russia Halal Expo International Exhibition of halal industry.
During the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov said: “It is important that Russian-Malaysian the highest level contacts are maintained on a regular basis. Malaysia is a reliable trade partner of the Russian Federation. He also emphasized that today Tatarstan actively cooperates with the Islamic world and the OIC countries.
The Rais (Head) of Tatarstan also said that a lot of work is carried out by the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – the Islamic World”, which he heads by the errand from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking about education, Minnikhanov said that it is necessary to develop cooperation between Tatarstan and Malaysia in science and education. It is important to expand contacts between universities, increase exchanges of students and teachers and work together on scientific projects.
In 2024, Kazan will host the «Games of the Future» - a large-scale international event at the intersection of sports, science and technology. Minnikhanov invited Malaysian athletes to participate in the competitions. “We will be glad to develop cooperation with Malaysia”, he said at the end of the meeting. The Rais thanked the Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia for his visit to Tatarstan and wished him successful work at KazanForum.
