The Rais of Tatarstan has a meeting with Deputy Secretary-General of the OIC Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo

On May 17, at the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov together with Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ramazan Abdulatipov had a meeting with Deputy Secretary-General of the OIC Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the XIV International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic world. KazanForum 2023”.

Minnikhanov thanked Dr. Ahmad Sengendo for the visit and stressed that KazanForum is the largest platform for discussing issues of cooperation between Russia and Muslim states. The business programme of the forum includes about 200 events on such topical issues as international cooperation, Islamic finance, the halal industry, investments and others.

The Rais of the republic stressed that Tatarstan has accumulated extensive experience in cooperation with various entities of the OIC, including the Islamic Development Bank, Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), the OIC Youth Forum, the Academy of Sciences of the Islamic World and others. Much work is being done by the Strategic Vision Group «Russia - Islamic World».  Minnikhanov emphasized the great potential of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and the OIC countries. “Using the example of Tatarstan, we are establishing the practical mechanisms of interaction with Islamic business,” he added.
