Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in opening of the Halal fair in the Kazan Agribusiness Park

On 17 May the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov , Deputy Director General of the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia  Sirajuddin Suhaimi, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and the Chairman of the Tatarstan Board of Muslims - the Mufti of the republic Kamil Samigullin attended the ceremony of opening the Russia Halal market Fair organized on the sidelines of the in the XIV International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic world. KazanForum 2023”.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that today there are  more than 20million Muslims living in Russia  and the  Halal industry is actively developing in all spheres of economy, comprising food and industrial production, medicine, tourism, education, finances and investments. 

He said that in Tatarstan alone there are more than 100 producers of Halal food products which are exported to the near and far-abroad countries. 

“One of the main tools of promotion of this sphere is the yearly KazanForum and Russia Halal Expo exhibition organized in the republic as they make it possible for the participants from the whole world to set up and successfully develop trade and economic ties,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. 

He emphasized that with the aim of increasing accessibility of products for customers, for the first time it was decided to organize the fair in the Kazan Agribusiness Park. “I think it is a very successful solution as here participants can demonstrate and sell their meat, dairy and vegetable products produced according to Halal standards as well as confectionary, clothes and souvenirs. It is gratifying that in addition to local producers, our foreign partners are also represented here,” Rustam Minnikhanov concluded and wished successful work to participants of the fair. 

Deputy Director General of the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia Sirajuddin Suhaimi gave high assessment to the potential of Halal industry in Russia and in Tatarstan in particular. “We will be happy to share our experience in this sphere and hope it will be for the benefit of the development of Halal in Russia,” he said. 

Russia Halal market is the international Halal industry fair with participation of 100 largest producers from Tatarstan, Iran, Senegal and Turkey held in Kazan till 21 May of the current year.
