Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in the unveiling of the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Kirillovich Kuznetsov

On 4 April the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the unveiling of the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Kuznetsov at the Arsk cemetery, where the Hero is buried.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikanov said: “Today we are unveiling the monument to the man-legend, the Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Kirillovich Kuznetsov. Tatarstan has always been known by its warriors who had utter devotion to their country. As many as 185 people born in the republic and 168 whose life was connected with it became Heroes of the Soviet Union.”

He emphasized that soldiers of the Russian Army who are descendants of heroes of that horrible war are proudly carrying the Victory Banner today and 26 residents of the republic have been awarded the title of the Hero of Russian Federation, 7 of them having been awarded for taking part in the special military operation.

Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to all those who created the monument to Boris Kuznetsov.

Kuznetsov’s widow Alfiya Filatova, the Chief Federal Inspector for Tatarstan Victor Demidov, , the Head of the Office of the Rais of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov , the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, the Chairman of the regional WWII veterans organization “Union of Tatarstan WWII veterans” Aleksandr Borodin also took part in the event.
