On 27 April, speaking at his meeting with the Director General of the Russian Post Company Mikhail Volkov in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that a post office is one of the key social facilities especially in the rural region. In the republic there are 1 111 post offices with more than 8 200 employees. Due to their work residents receive and send correspondence, buy essential goods, pay utility bills and receive pensions and money transfers on time, he informed.
The Rais of the republic thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin by whose errand rural post offices are undergoing modernization and in the current year 32 offices will be modernized in the republic.
“One of the main spheres of our work is the development of transport and logistics infrastructure especially taking into consideration the new logistics schemes. We also actively develop e-trade and the number of Tatarstan sellers at marketplaces reached 45 000 with more than 50m rubles of goods sold,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and emphasized that the republic is interested in further close cooperation with the Russian Post.
In his turn Mikhail Volkov stated that Tatarstan historically is one of the key entities for the Russian Post. “One of the largest post networks with a lot of employees is located here. Kazan has been one of the key logistics hubs for a long time”, he said.
At the meeting the parties also discussed prospects of the development of the Kazan Transport Hub and the first bonded warehouse in Russia which was launched in the Kazan Logistics Hub on 1 April of the current year.
The development of the bonded warehouse project will facilitate flow of new investments in Tatarstan transport and logistics infrastructure, create productions and jobs and provide additional revenues to the budget of the republic.
