The address from the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on the occasion of celebrations of the Day of the Mother Tongue and the 137th birthday of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay

In his address to Tatarstan residents on the occasion of celebrations of the Day of the Mother Tongue and the 137th birthday of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay, the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has said:

“Dear Tatarstan residents!Dear Compatriots! From the bottom of my heart I congratulate you with the Day of the Mother Tongue and the 137th birthday of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay. The genius of Tukay is in characters he generated and soulful lyrics, acute social topics, humor and satire are fastidious in his immortal works.

Addressing his younger compatriots he wrote: “In the stone less and carat less ring of the troubled and perplexed nation, we will be its treasured and true diamond”. Reading these lines, we are inspired by his belief into intelligence, power and nobility and that is why we are celebrating the Day of the Mother Tongue in the birthday of the unprecedented classic of the Tatar literature. His works are in tune with the aims of holding the Year of National Culture and Traditions in the multi-ethnic Tatarstan, such as strengthening of spiritual values, revival of original traditions and multiplication of cultural heritage.

May the festive events give an impetus to new creative achievements and wake up an interest to your roots and give you joy. I wish you happiness, good health, peace and prosperity.”
