On 19 April the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited Yelabuga region of the republic to assess the rate of sowing campaign and discuss issues of development of agriculture with farmers and heads of settlements.
Informing about agricultural achievements of the region, its Head Rustam Nuriyev said that the stock growth has made more than 20 per cent compared to 2020 and reached 9 400 heads and the daily total milk production even tripled reaching 93 600 tonnes. The region also actively carries out work to involve underutilized land into agriculture and this year there are only 8 600 hectares of idle land.
Rustam Minnikhanov gave a positive assessment to the work of the region in agriculture and said: “Earlier we criticized you a little and now we can see the growth in all key indicators such as the stock and milk production and salaries. You are building new cattle ranches and attaching great attention to all spheres of agriculture.”
He added that despite all difficulties the region managed to maintain all support measures and implement all planned projects in full.
Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture Marat Zyabbarov, who accompanied Rustam Minnikhanov during the trip, said that agriculture is experiencing a complicated situation because of reduced milk purchase prices. However regional framers got 1.3bn subsidies to improve the situation, he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov also visited the Mir dairy Farm opened in 2020, which produces 45 500 litres of milk daily. He was told that the farm is planning to double the stock in 2023 and build four additional farmsteads and as the farm also has its own fields where it grows forage, it scatters seeds over 6 500 hectares every year.
