On 6 April, speaking at a two-day alignment meeting with heads of the advanced engineering schools (AES) held in Naberezhnyye Chelny and Almetyevsk, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the main advantage of Tatarstan in development of advanced engineering schools is its powerful industrial potential.

He attracted attention to the fact that there are three AES developing in the republic in basic spheres of economy such as machine-building, petrochemical industry and IT. “Tatarstan is a large industrial center but we do not see our further development without AESs”, Rustam Minnikhanov said.

The Rais of Tatarstan stated that for many years regional enterprises such as the KAMAZ Automaker have been cooperating with Kazan federal university as its industrial partner. “The AESs make it possible to develop an infrastructure which is needed for serious research. But the most important is that students are integrated into industrial processes of concrete enterprises”, he said.

In his turn Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valeriy Falkov, who also took part in the meeting, stated that science and the scientific technological development are considered to be priorities in Tatarstan, which mostly facilitates implementation of the AES project. “Diversity of schools, management models and subjects are things which Tatarstan is distinguished by and which make it unique from the point of view of AES implementation. There no other entities with such variety of various schools, industries and industrial partners”, he said and thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for attaching great attention to this project.
