On 21 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting on important issues of ensuring national security in the Volga region held by the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolay Patrushev in Ulyanovsk with participation of the Russian Presidential Envoy in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, representatives of federal ministries and departments and heads of the regions comprising the district.
The meeting paid much attention to issues of counteracting external destructive informational and ideological influence on the Russian society, problems of preservation of historical memory an traditional spiritual and moral values and strengthening of sovereignty of Russia in the media landscape .
Participants of the meeting proposed measures aimed at controlling spreading of terrorism and extremism and deliberately false information spread by foreign special services with the aim of splitting the Russian society.
The meeting also discussed issues of raising legal literacy of the population and gave errands to develop and implement programs of supporting scientific and social projects helping to curb efforts of the Western countries to manipulate the public conscious.
