Rustam Minnikhanov gives an errand to step up measures for prevention animal diseases

On 4 March a meeting, held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov by video conference with all municipalities of the republic and with participation of the Chairman of the State Council of the republic Farid Mukhamrtshin and the First regional Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Nigmatulln, discussed the epizootic situation in the republic.

Speaking at the meeting, the Head of the Chief Veterinary Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic Almaz Khisamutdinov said that Tatarstan has close economic ties with all regions of Russian Federation, importing substantial amounts of cattle and animal husbandry products. Thus in 2022 Tatarstan imported more than 49000 of cattle stock, he said.

“Safety of other regions and the world in the whole influences the safety in Tatarstan and in 2022 our republic was safe apart from the African swine pest, 11 spots of which were revealed in various regions of the republic. Currently the quarantine has been lifted”, he said and attracted attention of participants of the meeting that starting from the beginning of spring it is necessary to ramp up prevention of  infectious animal diseases.

Reporting about the bird flu, Almaz Khisamutdinov said 2022 was favourable for the republic in this respect, while more than 120m poultry was destroyed all over the world because of this disease.

He informed that there are veterinary-police control posts working in the republic to prevent invasion of dangerous diseases to Tatarstan.

Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that issues of prevention dangerous animal diseases should be a priority and called the Prosecutor’s Office, Russian Agricultural Surveillance Agency in Tatarstan and heads of regions of the republic to join this work. “This is safety of our republic and as Tatarstan is a large cattle breeding region such diseases are hazardous for us. It is very important to prevent them” he said and gave an errand to organize corresponding education in livestock-rearing farms and private farms.
