The Rais of Tatarstan: We are interested in the presence of leading Tatarstan companies on the market of Tajikistan

On March 2, during his working visit to Dushanbe, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov spoke at the plenary session on the 9th conference on interregional cooperation “Business and Investment Partnership between Russia and Tajikistan”, where about 500 companies from Russia and Tajikistan were represented.

Tajikistan Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda opened the session and emphasized that this platform is an important form of development and strengthening of partnership between Russia and Tajikistan.

In his welcoming speech, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin emphasized the great interest of Russia in the development of cooperation. Representatives of 16 regions of Russia and more than 200 companies arrived in Dushanbe. “According to the results of last year, trade turnover increased and amounted to 1.5 billion US dollars,” he said.

Russian Prime Minister emphasized the active work of the regions with Tajikistan. “Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan are the most active ones,” he said. Mishustin also invited Tajikistan delegation to the International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum", which will take in the capital of Tatarstan in May this year.

In his speech, Minnikhanov underlined that it is necessary to intensify cooperation to increase the volume of trade and expand the range. “We are interested in the presence of leading Tatarstan companies on the market of your country. These are trucks, helicopters, petrochemical products, agricultural machinery, household chemicals, halal products and much more,” Minnikhanov said.

Last year the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Tajikistan increased by 57 per cent and exceeded 30 million dollars. Cooperation has been established through the KAMAZ Automaker, which has a dealer in Dushanbe. Tatarstan also actively exports agricultural products.

Minnikhanov invited the Tajikistan delegation to Tatarstan and to take part in KazanForum to get acquainted with the potential of the republic. He emphasized that by the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the forum had acquired federal status. “This is a high trust and a great responsibility for our republic. We will be glad to see the delegation of your republic”, Minnikhanov addressed the participants.
