On 14 February, speaking to journalists at a traditional briefing in the Government House of the republic, the Head of the Tatarstan Investments Development Agency (TIDA) Taliya Minullina  told that the ХIV International economic forum “Russia-Islamic world: KazanForum 2023”  to be held at the Kazan Expo on 18-20 May this year will comprise about 200 events.

“We are planning discussions on Islamic finances and this must be one of the most important sessions prepared by the Central Bank. The track will be dedicated to partnership financing as an alternative to traditional financial instruments,” she said.

“In addition members of the Russian State Duma will take part in a session on prospects of legal regulations of partnership financing in Russia, which will discuss the federal law that has already passed the first reading,” she clarified.

Having stressed that the forum is the largest international event in Tatarstan for today, Taliya Minullina said there are about 200 events planned during the Forum, the business part to be held in the first two days and the visits of the UNESCO sites and a cultural programme to take place later.

She also informed about an inter-parliamentary session of Russia-the Persian Gulf to be held at the forum for the first time, the business breakfast to be presided by the Head of the Sberbank German Gref and the Russian Islamic Economic Forum “Russia – a personal guarantor of partnership”.

She said that many guests from Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Malaysia are expected to take part in special profile sessions planned for these countries.

In his turn the Aid to the Rais of Tatarstan Gazinur Bakirov told journalists that the republic is first of all expecting guests from the CIS, the Middle East and African countries as the forum is unique for Russia.  He put special emphasis to the fact that the forum is organized not just for Muslim countries.

“The international forum in Kazan will become another step for expanding cooperation of Russia with the Islamic countries’ economies. And Tatarstan plays a special role in facilitating this direction and holding the forum in 2023 when Russia experiences the burden of sanctions from the unfriendly countries,” he concluded.
