On 13 February the Head of the Office of the Rais of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the Fedor Shalyapin Monument in Kazan dedicated to the 150th birthday of the great opera singer.
Speaking at the ceremony, Asgat Safarov said: “Fedor Shalyapin was a generous spirit person who was deeply respectful and grateful to all people he met. It is this sensibility together with his outstanding voice and actor’s master craft that made it possible for Shalyapin to create deep characters and become an example in the art of opera”.
He also reminded that the monument is located close to the Epiphany Cathedral where Shalyapin was baptized when he was a small kid.
“Let the memory of the genius inspire many generations and bring them faith into their destiny. We can talk a lot about his grandeur but what is most important that he achieved everything due to his talent and hard work”, Asgat Safarov concluded.
In his turn Dmitriy Bosov, who won the Shalyapin award in 2017, said that the singer was a national pride of all Russian citizens and an example for all beginning singers.
