Russian President Vladimir Putin has a working meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov

On 23 January in Moscow at his working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov reported about the social and economic situation in the republic, implementation of large infrastructure projects and support provided to new Russian regions.

Speaking at the meeting, Vladimir Putin said: “Traditionally Tatarstan for long time has been on the top of positive rankings in main spheres of work. Nevertheless, maybe you can tell me about some problems which have to be solved yet and require attention”.

Tatarstan President started with reporting about support of the special military operation and told that the republic has already allocated 2,5b rubles supporting the city of Lisichansk, which is under patronage of Tatarstan. He also informed that the republic has already provided about 2 000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the city and has started work at a number of facilities. Two battalions from the republic – Alga and Timer are taking part in the operation, he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that there are six war heroes in the republic, three of them having died in action, and 52 residents of Tatarstan awarded with the Orders of Courage, and the administration provides all necessary help to their families.

Telling about public and political situation in the republic, Tatarstan President said it was stable, but there are some demographic problems because of the pandemic. He said that the death-birth balance was negative in the last three years, but medical organizations started working in this respect and everything is under control.

Informing Russian President about social and economic development of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov said that the GRP of the republic  reached 3 760bn rubles and the amount of industrial production growth made 105.9 per cent, reaching nearly 4.8 trillion rubles.

He informed that last year the republic generated 1 465bn rubles of taxes and invested 774b into the capital stock, adding that retail revenues dropped a little but the agricultural growth made 115 and that in construction – 108 per cent last year.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that the share of processing industry was growing, resulting in doubling of the non-raw materials export last year. At the same time the republic produced 35.8 tonnes of crude oil, including 20 per cent of it produced by small companies, he said.

He informed that petrochemical companies of the republic, such as TANEKO, TAIF-NK and SIBUR process nearly 24 m tonnes of crude oil, implementing all joint projects in production of ethylene, synthesis and power engineering.

Tatarstan President told that the republic produces more than 1m tonnes of fertilizes and is planning to reach 3m tonnes of produce in the nearest future, at the same time implementing large projects in ecology, such as decreasing industrial emission and modernizations of water treatment and waste management facilities.

With KAMAZ Automaker producing 43 thousand trucks, there is the Sollers Company which launches production of a passenger car, he said.

As far as aircraft production is concerned, Rustam Minnikhanov reported that the task is to produce 10 TU-214, while the Kazan helicopter plant produces 106 units a year. The ship building plant is also gaining momentum, so all defense orders are manufactured according to the schedule, he said.

Tatarstan President also told about the Haier Company, producing refrigerators and TV sets, gasification of the republic and agribusiness production and implementation of projects in development of the IT-technologies in the republic, such as handing in 24 000 laptops to school teachers, a new ICL plant to produce mother boards and computer components, and the work of Special Economic Zones of Alabuga and Innopolis, which generate up to 515b rubles of revenues.

As for implementation of national and regional projects is concerned, Rustam Minnikhanov said that the republic invested 112bn rubles into social infrastructure facilities capital overhaul, reconstruction and construction. He added that the republic is also implementing the programmes of moving people from shabby to new houses and providing housing for orphans and families with many children, which are very important social projects.

He also reported about implementation of Our Yard and Public Spaces programmes and water supply of kitchen garden communities.

Telling the Russian President about road construction programmes, Rustam Minnikhanov informed that the republic takes part in the construction of M-12 highway and two bridges across the Volga River , having already used 100b rubles of investments, including 67b rubles coming from the regional and 126b –from the federal budgets.

He also reported about the work of the Russia –Islamic World strategic group and in the OIC, where Russia has a status of an observer, the annual conference the KazanSummit, the events of the Kazan-OIC Youth Capital held last year in Kazan and the work with UNESCO with Mintimer Shaimiev taking active part in it.
