Tatarstan President: Public confidence in prosecutors remains high

On January 23, in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the State Council of the republic Farid Mukhametshin, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Nikolay Shishkin and Сhief Federal Inspector for Tatarstan Viktor Demidov took part in an extended summing up meeting of the Prosecutor's Office of Tatarstan on the results of its work in 2022 and the tasks of strengthening law and order in 2023.

The Prosecutor of Tatarstan Ildus Nafikov made a keynote report and said that in 2022, the Prosecutor’s Office of the republic continued to operate under conditions of unprecedented socio-economic and political challenges. “Under the conditions of unprecedented restrictions, special attention was paid to protecting the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, the legitimate interests of society and the state. Society expects our real legal protection and help in solving the urgent problems. We are obliged to solve all the state tasks,” he emphasized.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov emphasized that the challenges of the past year required the consolidation of efforts aimed at protecting the society and the state. Under these circumstances, the Prosecutor’s Office of Tatarstan fulfilled the duties assigned at a high level.

He said that public confidence in prosecutors remained high. Over the past year, the Prosecutor’s Office of the republic received about 100,000 appeals with more than 12,000 violations identified during the consideration. Prosecution measures have been taken against them.

Minnikhanov urged to act decisively in case of revealing inaccurate information on the Internet aimed at discrediting the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, state authorities, destabilizing law and order, public peace in the republic, as well as calls for extremist activities.

Minnikhanov also noted the importance of careful supervisory support of national projects, theft on the Internet or using it in making crimes and safety of citizens in industrial production and residential premises when using gas equipment.

At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov handed in state awards to distinguished prosecutors of Tatarstan.

In his speech, Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia Nikolay Shishkin also outlined the problems relevant for the republic and set tasks for prosecutors to solve them.
