Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov meets President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov

On January 20, during his working visit to Ashkhabad, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov. Minnikhanov thanked Turkmenistan President for his attention to the development of bilateral cooperation with Tatarstan, aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Turkmenistan. The parties discussed issues of developing trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan.

“We are in a wonderful brotherly country, because the Tatars and the Turkmens have historically always been close. Russian-Turkmen relations are based on strategic partnership. Our leaders are in constant contact, which results a large Turkmen-Russian business forum, held yesterday under the leadership of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The forum has very good preparation, informative reports on the prospects for our cooperation,” Tatarstan President said in an interview with Turkmen television.

Minnikhanov also said that at the meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in the engineering industry, petrochemicals, digitalization and other areas and emphasized the importance of developing Tatarstan-Turkmen cooperation in culture, science and education.

He also outlined that contacts in sports are also of great importance. Thus, the first hockey tournament among the teams of Islamic countries and Tatarstan was held in Kazan the other day.
