On December 14, during his working visit to Moscow, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University in Moscow, which was founded in 1906 and the first in the world introduced pediatric and biomedical departments. Today the university is the largest scientific-educational and medical centre of the country, including 8 departments, 115 departments, 143 clinical bases, as well as 3 own clinics. In total, more than 10,000 students, 2,500 postgraduate students and residents study at the university, including 121 students and 20 residents from Tatarstan.
During a visit to the Pirogov Medical University, Minnikhanov was shown the Department of Molecular Technologies, which is engaged in the study and isolation of cells for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, in particular, they presented work with cells for the treatment of Bechterev's disease. Tatarstan President also got acquainted with the work of the department of regenerative medicine, which is developing material for the recovery of people with a rare orphan disease - the so-called butterfly disease, as well as the genomic center and the multidisciplinary accreditation and simulation center, where surgeons are trained. Here Minnikhanov had a meeting with students from Tatarstan. He informed about the leading medical institutions in the republic, as well as about the conditions created for young professionals in the region.
During the meeting, it was also decided to organize practice for students in medical institutions of the republic.
