On 2 December Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov gave a speech at a plenary session of the Russia-Uzbek business-forum held in Samarkand with participation of Heads of governments of Russia and Uzbekistan.
Russian Minister of Economic Development Maksim Reshetnikov, who was a moderator of the forum, introduced Tatarstan as one of the regions that actively cooperates with Uzbekistan and asked the President of the republic to tell about successful track record of the republic.
Welcoming participants of the forum, Rustam Minnikhanov said: “Tatarstan as one of the leading and industrially developed Russian regions takes an active part in development of cooperation between our countries”.
He reminded that in the current year two very important joint projects were implemented in Uzbekistan, namely the opening of the chemical industrial Chirchik technical park and of the branch of the Kazan Federal University in the town of Dzhizak. “Moreover, a number of large industrial enterprises are actively cooperating with their partners here,” he said.
“By the results of the last year Tatarstan-Uzbekistan trade turnover exceeded 193m dollars and in the nine months of the current year we can see the turnover growth by 47 per cent,” Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President attracted special attention to the necessity of broadening humanitarian interaction and informed that currently there are 3 335 students from Uzbekistan studying at universities of the republic.
“I want to express my gratitude to administration of Uzbekistan for its support of the Tatar community”, he concluded.
