Rustam Minnikhanov meets President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev

On 29 November during the working visit of a delegation from Tatarstan to Baku, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. 

“I want to express my appreciation for the attention you attach to the development of relations between our republics, which are aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Azerbaijan”, Tatarstan President said. 

He informed that according to the results of last year the Tatarstan- Azerbaijan trade turnover exceeded 70m dollars and in the first six months of 2022 it more than doubled, making 60m. 

One of the large partners is the KAMAZ Automaker, which supplies both trucks and their parts and the truck assembly is done at Gyanja Auto Plant which is also the KAMAZ official distributor in the Azerbaijan market, Rustam Minnikhanov said and added that there are two accredited service centers and the third one is under construction.  

During the conversation, Tatarstan President reminded that there are a working agreement on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between the republics and the intergovernmental commission. ”We should ramp up the use of logistics possibilities of the Volga-Caspian basin”, he said. 

Speaking about promising cooperation spheres, Rustam Minnikhanov especially noted such spheres as energy and industry, car building, petrochemicals and gas motor fuel. 

He also informed the President of Azerbaijan that by the errand from Russian President Vladimir Putin he is the head of the Russian-Islamic World Strategic Vision group and invited Ilham Aliyev to take part in the work of the Group. 

Tatarstan President also invited a delegation from Azerbaijan to take part in the international economic summit “Russia-Islamic World”. 

In his turn, welcoming Rustam Minnikhanov, Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of historical ties and said: ”I visited Tatarstan twice and always have warm recollections about these trips”. 

President of Azerbaijan wished the Tatarstan delegation a good and fruitful work at the business forum.

Later the same day the Tatarstan delegation headed by Rustam Minnikhanov laid flowers on the grave of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Geydar Aliyev and on the grave of his wife Zarifa Aliyeva and paid the tribute to the memory of the soldiers killed in the battle by laying flowers to the Eternal Flame complex.
