Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan takes an active part in the national project "Tourism and hospitality industry"

On November 26, speaking at a meeting on the development of the tourism industry in the republic chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, curator of the Volga Federal District Dmitry Chernyshenko, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan, with participation of Director General of the Corporation «Tourism.RF» Sergey Sukhanov and representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Transport, Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and relevant regional ministries and departments, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan takes an active part in the national project «Tourism and hospitality industry».

The meeting discussed the development of the tourism infrastructure of the republic and the implementation of the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of river and cruise tourism, as well as the creation of the national tourist route "The Great Volga River Route».

“The President instructed to develop river and cruise tourism. I thank the entities and Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russia for the work that is already being done on the expansion of the route network. Our goal is to make this type of holiday more affordable by increasing the offer of services. To do it, a subsidy programme for inter-regional river passenger transport for 2023-2025 should be developed. It gives impetus to the development of domestic tourism and a serious increase in the tourist flow in the entities located along our main river arteries,” Chernyshenko said.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Transport of Russia together with interested federal executive bodies and entities develop such a programme and submit it to the Cabinet of Ministers by March 1 next year.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government also thanked Minnikhanov for his active participation in the events of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry". According to expert assessments, the work of the republic is an example for many regions. He also emphasized that the tourist flow to the republic is almost equal to the population and annually amounts to more than 3.5 million guests.

Minnikhanov emphasized that the development of domestic tourism in the Russian Federation and the formation of the availability of tourism products for the citizens of our country is one of the priorities in the work of the regions.

The sphere of tourism in Tatarstan shows strong growth in many indicators. For 9 months of the current year, there is a steady increase in the tourist flow by 11 percent compared to 2021. The average hotel occupancy rate for this period was 73 per cent. Under the federal project Tourism infrastructure Development of the national project “Tourism and hospitality industry" a new system of development of tourism projects is being built, which will provide quality rest to all tourists in the future. The implementation of the interregional project. “The Great Volga River Route» is equally important and will unite the tourist potential of all regions of the central Volga. Tourist centers of Tatarstan are ready to receive guests on this route.

Chairman of Tatarstan State Committee for Tourism Sergey Ivanov reported on the development of tourism and tourism infrastructure in Tatarstan.

Another issue of the agenda was the fulfillment of Dmitry Chernyshenko's order on the creation of the Centre for the development of human resources in the tourism industry with bilingual diploma education in Tatarstan based on the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism under the national project «Tourism and hospitality industry”.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia to provide the necessary conditions for the start of the work of the Centre and to submit the drafts of relevant normative acts to the Government as soon as possible.
